Why would anybody want to bring children into this world?!

“Our population thrived in much worse living conditions throughout human history. But young people nowadays refuse to have a child. Most blame it for high living costs. I think it’s just a common excuse. What are the real reasons behind this problem?”

On one hand, human history is the chronicle of the ever-growing, intensifying human ego. By now, we have become totally self-obsessed, egocentric, narcissistic. We can’t accept any compromise, any concessions towards another.

As a result, the classical family model is collapsing, especially in the West, while other, “developing” nations will go through the same problems as they also inevitably reach the same level of individualistic, egoistic stage.

On top of this, the big difference between previous, harsher times is that we no longer have any hopes regarding the future, we do not anticipate the future, instead, we fear it.

There is a very realistic expectation that humanity is not going to survive long as we can’t solve our mounting global problems — that would require selfless, altruistic, mutually responsible, and mutually complementing cooperation above all our differences and against our egos. Instead, it seems that we will blindly, instinctively continue to exploit, manipulate, harm each other until this cancer-like behavior will lead us to total collapse, mutual extermination. If it will not be natural catastrophes, plagues, water, and food shortage, then it will be societal collapse and wars.

So who would want to bring children into this world, into such a future?!

Without willingly, purposefully, methodically changing ourselves and how we relate to each other and Nature, there is no point in propagating a species that is going to be extinct very soon!
