Why is the 21st Century so terrible?!
Question from the Internet:
“Do you miss the 20th century? This 21st century is terrible.”
Well, we had 2 World Wars in the 20th century to mention only the biggest explosions.
But you are right, now we are very close to a 3rd World War which could wipe most of humanity out.
And if we do not kill each other with weapons, we will kill ourselves with our inability to cope with global problems, since without positive, sustainable, global, mutually responsible, mutually complementing cooperation we will not be able to comprehend, let alone solve the mounting global issues.
This is why it is extremely important to recognize, humbly accept what is behind the helplessly recurring vicious historic cycle, what causes humanity’s inability to act as a single unit.
Only when we recognize our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and exploitative nature — that drives all of us regardless of if we have consciously recognized it or not yet — and we develop a need, desire to change, further develop ourselves, only then will we have any chance for problem-solving and survival.
We have reached a crucial turning point in human evolution. After the blind, instinctive development for millennia, we have to shift to a conscious, proactive human development above and against our instinctive nature.
This is the uniqueness of the human species, we are the only beings in Nature that has the ability to consciously, purposefully, proactively control, direct their own development, learning how to adapt ourselves to Nature’s evolution by our own efforts.
This will bring is a realistic, tangible feeling, sense as if we ourselves designed, governed the whole natural system as a result of the wisdom, understanding we can attain.
