Why is our modern, Western society collapsing?

Question from the Internet:

“How will modern western society or modern-day society in general collapse? Because we know it is, at least the critical thinkers do. What will cause it to?”

Our modern, predominantly Western society is already collapsing. As with climate change, we keep expecting something or keep looking into the future while kicking the can, when the actual changes and their destructive consequences are already here, affecting our lives as we speak.

Our “modern” society, the West is already an empty shadow, without any future direction or hopes, simply sinking into hedonistic overconsumption and gobbling up any possible selfish pleasures while we can. We are like those fools on the deck of the sinking Titanic who were still eating and drinking or collecting silverware from the abandoned tables.

And the rest of the “developing” world blindly covets the West, abandoning their original cultures and principles to acquire the “good life” on which the West already suffocates.

Why does this happen?

This happens because the “modern, Western” society — and the best and most obvious example is America — is the symbol and the peak of what we can achieve through our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, insatiable, and individualistic nature.

Our modern society and our human system are collapsing because our inherent nature makes us exist and behave like cancer. We excessively accumulate and consume everything only for ourselves. We progress through the ruthless and exclusive competition, where we inevitably and most happily succeed at the expense of others and nature. We define ourselves by controlling, humiliating, exploiting, and destroying others — even within our families.

Unless we recognize these cancer-like tendencies and instincts in ourselves and develop a true, intolerable, and irrepressible need and desire to change ourselves — each person changing oneself instead of forcing, correcting, or destroying others — we will have to go through unprecedented, extreme, and intolerable suffering that will force us through the necessary changes.
