Why is Israel so indecisive?!
An article in The Jerusalem Post:
My comment:
How could it be in any other way?!
Israel has a fragmented society, with only common grief and common existential danger uniting the people.
The leaders — growing out of a fragmented society that gave birth to dozens of self-serving political parties — only care about their positions, their own opinions, legacy, and pride.
It is the innate disunity and infighting that weakens and paralyzes Jews and Israel, not only now but throughout our history.
The warning from the Sinai — unity, mutual guarantee, or death — applies today as it applied millennia ago.
Unity is not a slogan or a political ideology. True unity cannot be achieved by people shouting or even forcing others to unite.
True unity is something “supernatural,” as it has to be achieved and maintained above and against our inherently and 100% self-serving, self-justifying, exploitative, and hateful human nature.
This nature drives each and every human being, but Jews have a unique method of learning and practicing how to exist and behave above and independently of this instinctive nature.
It is this very method we keep forsaking and ignoring in favor of the self-destructive but attractive — selfish and narcissistic — methods of others.
Israel cannot be a Western nation; Israel has to revive its own method and exist in the “Jewish way,” being united, following a single goal for which “we were selected:” to show everybody how to survive and exist against the inherent human ego with the help of reality’s single governing force.
