Why do we need to unite?

Question from the Internet:

“Do you think all nations on Earth should unite as one?”

Yes, the world needs to unite. After all, since we evolved into a globally integrated world, where we all depend on each other and we all have absolute responsibility towards each other, without a working, sustainable unity we will simply not survive.

The pandemic has shown this very graphically, what happens when everybody does what they want, what they consider right, climate change shows that we can’t achieve anything, we can’t even understand, let alone solve the problem unless we do it together.

But this “world unity” is extremely difficult, since we would need to achieve it above and against our inherently selfish, individualistic/nationalistic, subjective, and exploitative nature. As long as we blindly follow our instincts — as we have been doing so far in history — we keep succeeding, surviving at each other’s expense, and stumble from one vicious historic cycle to another.

So we need to consciously, proactively, methodically learn, and implement — above and against our inherent nature — how to unite and build a “Nature-like”, mutually integrated, harmonious human society.
