Who needs enemies with friends like this?!
Question from the Internet:
“Is it a coincidence that humans don’t have natural enemies?”
I am sure you heard the expression “who needs enemies with friends like this?”
Driven by our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, subjective, and exploitative nature we act like cancer and thus march towards self-destruction. We seemingly need no external help in destroying everything around us and inside of us.
Even without plagues, natural catastrophes we can kill ourselves with wars, socioeconomic collapse due to excessive overconsumption, and succeeding at each other expense, we are becoming increasingly more empty, depressed due to having no human purpose in life and escape into substance abuse to escape the emptiness.
And when an external threat comes we are desperately helpless in solving anything since we can’t cooperate, help each other but want to survive at the expense of others.
So why do we need external enemies?
Thus we need to learn how to fight the enemy within, fighting, correcting, harnessing our inherently selfish, introverted egos that consume us and everything around us like cancer.
