Where is our freedom?

“Is freedom a human capacity to choose actions? Why?”

Our human freedom does not relate to our actions. Our actions are predetermined by our natural instincts as we are always acting according to our inherently egocentric, subjective “pleasure/pain” software, always choosing states, actions that take us closer to greater, more attractive pleasures, while distancing us from actual or expected pain, suffering.

This is how we are programmed by Nature so this cause and effect process never changes.

What we can “choose” determine is what we consider attractive pleasure and what we consider pain or suffering. And by that, we can redirect, control our states and actions.

By default all the pleasure and pain calculations are 100% egocentric, subjective, they are always about my own state, mostly regardless of the state of others. Through a unique, purposeful, and practical educational, scientific method we can make our “personal computer” understand and feel that in the fully integrated and interdependent world we evolved into, my personal pleasure and personal pain are intricately intertwined with the pleasure and pain of everybody else.

As a result of our “personal computer” will adjust its calculations and takes the pleasure and pain of everybody together into consideration, directing us towards very different states and actions, where instead of the 100% egocentric, subjective good it aims everything at the “common good” at the wellbeing and benefit of the whole global system including Nature.

This is how the seemingly archaic, poetic, mostly irrelevant and rejected principle of “love others as yourself” — which is in truth, a symbolic description of Nature’s fundamental law of mutual integration that creates and sustains life — suddenly becomes very real and practical, paving our way towards a safe, sustainable, collective human survival in Nature’s fully integrated and interdependent system.
