Where does the desire for peace come from?
Question from the Internet:
“Why do we want peace?”
Human beings are Nature’s only “creatures” with a strange duality, inner split.
On one hand, we are all born from Nature, we all have the same aspiration, draw towards balance and homeostasis as the rest of Nature after all without this balance and homeostasis life is not possible. It is this natural instinct in us that “wants peace”.
On the other hand, in human beings uniquely in Nature, there is also an inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and individualistic aspiration, to consume and obtain everything for one’s own sake at all costs, even at the expense of others and the expense of the life-giving and life-sustaining balance.
And since this unique human aspiration for control, excessive overconsumption and exploitation of everything and everyone has been constantly growing throughout human history, easily;y overcoming our natural instinct for balance and peace.
Thus we time and time and again cry out for peace but continue with endless conflict and wars that grow stronger and more intense with each generation.
And now we are standing before a nuclear world war and the total destruction of the human system.
Of course, there is another way and another possibility for the future. We could purposefully and methodically strengthen, and intensify our original natural instinct for balance and homeostasis and similarity with Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated system.
Our problem-solving ability and future, collective survival depend on this.
