What should we aspire for in human society?

Question from the Internet:

“Are life goals more important than financial goals?”

This solely depends on the society we live in and what values and goals the society fosters and makes important.

Our present society is based on excessive consumerism, on the endless accumulation of resources and profit for individual benefit — through succeeding at the expense of others and Nature. We consider the purpose of our life material wealth and control over others, this is what is important for us.

It is another matter, that this kind of human society, this kind of purpose has no right to exist in nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated system, since our aspirations and lifestyle are incompatible with Nature’s strict and unforgiving laws that govern and sustain the general balance and homeostasis life depends on.

So it does not matter what we consider important and how stubbornly we want to pursue it. As we can now see all around us, our present human civilization is fast falling apart and this collapse will continue until the end until we either willingly and purposeful, or as a result of intolerable suffering learn how to adapt ourselves to Nature’s system.

It would help us if we rebuilt human society on different values and aspirations when we would make it our life’s goal to become adapted to and integrated into Nature’s system by mutually integrating with each other according to Nature’s laws and evolutionary plan.
