What motivation can help us “do good?’

You are right. Positive motivation can change, inspire and motivate people much more than negative ones. When we receive punishments or we fear punishment we might think it is a stronger motivation to “do good”. But we do not change we simply endure and can hardly wait until we can revert to “do bad” again.

So we need to develop a system of positive motivation and provide positive examples for people who “do good”. And when we keep doing “truly good”, after a while we already receive a positive feedback and reinforcement from a much better reality we created through our “good actions” and that just amplifies the whole positive cycle.

Then we need to “only” figure out what “doing good” actually means.

‘And here, as we can see from history and our contemporary society, our usual ideologies, philosophies and even relgions do not help. After all, humanity and how we exist and behave became only steadily worse throughout millennia reaching today’s point of no return, where we find ourselves on the brink of self-destruction.

Thus we will need to learn what “doing good” means independent of our inherently egocentric, self-serving and self-justifying point of view. Fortunately, we can learn this “doing good” from Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated system where everything is organized and governed in order to create and nourish life.

And in order to create and nourish life, all comprisin element and components of any integrated, living natural system have to selflessly and unconditionally contribute to the general balance and homeostasis without which life is impossible.

Thus it is this finely balanced mutual integration that we have to teach people and show them how to “do good” according to Nature’s viewpoint and laws. And the moment at least a critical minority starts acting like this, willingly and consciously adapting themselves to Nature’s laws and mutual integration, their positive example will be able to to attract more and more peope after them as the general society will continue to decline and suffer.

And then we will have both the positive and negative motivation working in tandem. Those pioneers with their positice example will provide the positive one, while the general crisis and suffering will provide the negative push.
