What kind of new education do we need?

“Since the world is advancing in technology and other areas, shouldn’t our mode of education change too?”

I fully agree with you that our education and, in general, the information flow in human society has to change.

But it has nothing to do with technological progress.

Technology — regardless of how advanced it is — is simply a tool in our hands. How technology performs and what we achieve with it depends on our goals and aspirations and mostly on the intention we use over our needs and desires.

By default, we are all 100% egocentric, subjective and exploitative. We are all driven by an insatiable desire for increasing pleasures for ourselves while we try distancing ourselves from actual or feared pain and suffering. Everything we ever do is based on this simplistic, egocentric and subjective “pleasure/pain” calculation.

The problem is that since we also exist in a completely interconnected, mutually integrated and interdependent system — not only in relation to humanity but also in relation to Nature’s vast system — as long as we continue with such egocentric, subjective and exploitative calculations and actions, we inevitably cause harm to others and the whole system.

This insatiable, selfish and egoistic desire for pleasures in us has been constantly and incessantly growing in us through millennia. And today, this “black hole” in individual human beings and in humanity, in general, has reached its maximum potential.

Thus we are standing at the very realistic prospect of imminent self-destruction!

Thus the new, suitable, purposeful and practical education we need is a method that can not only help us understand but can make us “viscerally” feel how interdependent we are. We need to feel without any doubt that the life, health, prosperity and survival of any individual are inevitably and irreversibly intertwined with the life, health, prosperity and survival of the whole collective of humanity and the whole system of Nature.

If we learn and establish a human society that is built on Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated blueprint — each of us acting like a healthy cell in humanity’s “body” that is also an integral part of Nature — then also our technology will start assisting us and bringing us positive and constructive outcomes.
