What kind of human society has a future?

“What kind of future world would you create?”

We do not need to dream or philosophize about the ideal future world. We have an extremely sharp contrast before us, reaching its maximum strength in our generation.

On the one hand, we can see the direction of human society. Human society is narcissistic and hedonistic, based on the worship of the individual self. We thrive on incessant and ever-growing overconsumption, accumulating profit and resources for ourselves, while we ruthlessly compete with others and survive and succeed at their expense. Basically, by all accounts, we all exist and behave like cancer.

On the other hand, we see Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated system — best portrayed by our own biological body. In integrated, living natural systems, each element is concerned only with the wellbeing and optimal development of the whole living system. Each element totally subjugated itself to selflessly and unconditionally serving the fragile balance and homeostasis life depend on.

In Nature, individual parts — inanimate, vegetative or animate — do not feel their own separate lives; they do not sense themselves as standalone, independent beings whose life is worth anything against the whole collective. Even individual animals instinctively sense themselves as individual cells of the same organism, playing their predetermined part and function for the whole.

Our human system causes and instigates destruction, we are actually on the brink of total self-destruction. Nature’s system creates and nurtures life.

Which world has a future, and which template should we aspire for?!
