What is the “social contract” of the future?
Question from the Internet:
“What form of social contract would allow all members in an organisation to develop their full potential in order that they may each make their greatest contribution to the good of the whole?”
This social contract is called “mutual guarantee”, where members of a closed society or environment unconditionally guarantee each other’s most optimal state the the best possible development of their collective.
This is how nature’s integrated living systems work, and those natural systems create and sustain life.
But creating a “nature-like”, life-creating and sustaining human system is not easy or straightforward. We are all born with an inherently egocentric, self-serving, self-justifying and individualistic nature. We all thrive and fight for individual freedom, individual rights and we all enjoy surviving and succeeding at each other’s expense.
Thus inherently, we are incompatible with “mutual guarantee”, and we unite and cooperate only when our selfish benefit dictates and usually we unite and cooperate againts others. And when the collective selfish benefit is gone, the unity and cooperation also goes.
This is why we need to learn, feel, accept and implement “mutual guarantee”. First, we can use a collective “selfish benefit”, which is our collective survival. This collective survival is becoming more and more questionable and endangered as we all go against each other and care only about our own excessive fulfillment, consuming and accumulating resources and profit only for ourselves. At the same time, in the lack of true cooperation we can’t even comprehend our global problems, let alone solve them.
With the help of a special, purposeful and practical educational and scientific method, we need to understand and actually, viscerally feel our total interdependence so we could see and feel that we all need each other for our continuing, collective survival.
And when we already started solving our problems and securing our future through “nature-like” co-existence and cooperation, we will be able to reveal and sense much greater benefits and purpose in our mutual integration.
