What is “sustainable”?!
--
Question from the Internet:
“Can we make a sustainable economic impact on society by teaching children the entrepreneurship mindset?”
No. The entrepreneurship mindset is the presently accepted, coveted mindset, driving people to excessively accumulate, hoard resources, profit for themselves — mostly at the expense of others and the expense of Nature.
This is neither evil nor a crime, we are all born with such an insatiable, egotistic, subjective, and individualistic “engine” constantly making calculations only about personal, selfish success and profit at all costs.
And even if we ourselves are not successful in the ruthless competition, constantly serving, justifying ourselves, thriving to become better, higher, richer, stronger than others, we highly respect those who are successful and dream to be like them one day.
But this is the lifestyle, aspiration of “cancer cells” in the globally integrated and fully interdependent world, where nothing outside of the introverted “I” exists and the whole world is there only to serve this “inflated I”.
This leads to a life that is opposite to “sustainable”, as we gradually, with a hastening pace consume, destroy everything exactly like cancer. With our original mindset, aspirations are completely incompatible with Nature’s strict laws that sustain, govern the balance and homeostasis life depends on.
A sustainable existence — including society, economy — requires a very different, “Natural” mindset, inner software, when — above and against our inherent nature that we cannot suppress or erase — we learn how to make calculations and exist only for the sake of others, selfless, unconditionally serving the whole system.
Of course, this is against our nature completely. Of course, this cannot be achieved on our own when others remain as they are. And even together we can’t change our own nature in such a fundamental manner.
But, through a special, purposeful, and practical method, in a unique environment where everybody commits to such fundamental self-changes, common goal, we can harness, mobilize, purposefully use so far hidden forces in Nature, from evolution’s deterministic force-field, that can help us acquire a new, conscious layer of “truly Human” existence that can cover, complement our instinctive, original, egocentric, subjective software.
Human beings are multi-layered, consisting of an insatiable, self-serving, self-justifying egoistic part, dressed into, augmented with a Natural layer, an intention that can harness, channel the awesome forces of the original ego towards positive, constructive, collective goals and purposes.
By that — in contrast to other animals — Human beings become Nature’s only consciously, proactively integrated, insider but at the same time, independent observers, benevolent partners.
This is what we need to teach to ourselves and to our children!
