What is positive competition?

Question from the Internet:

“Why should one avoid competition if they want to make an impact on the world?”

Competition in itself is not wrong. We are all born with a “competitive spirit”, we all measure ourselves against others and always thrive to become better, stronger, wiser, wealthier, more powerful than others.

Competition is the drive for growth, progress.

But when we constantly compete in a ruthless, exclusive manner, when our actual joy, reward comes from succeeding, surviving at the expense of others, when we selfishly accumulate profit and resources for ourselves way beyond our necessities, competition becomes destructive.

And it is especially so when we have evolved into a globally integrated and interdependent world, where this “negative competition” makes us behave like cancer.

This is why we need to learn how to use our competitive spirit, our irrepressible human characteristics of envy, jealousy, desire for respect, desire for more in a positive, mutually responsible, mutually complementing manner.

Then these seemingly negative qualities can become positive, constructive, propelling forces for the whole human collective to progress and rise to a qualitatively much higher, collective existence, working towards mutually accepted and mutually beneficial collective goals.

This is something we can learn through a unique, purposeful, and practical educational method from Nature.
