What is humanity’s greatest achievement?

Question from the Internet:

“What is humankind’s single greatest achievement?”

Honestly? Nothing yet. So far we have been developing, “inventing”, building and destroying blindly, instinctively, simply governed by our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, exploitative egos.

But now we have received the chance, ability and obligation to become “truly Human”.

It does not matter what we consider “achievements”, what we call “historic and epic” in relation to people doing something. The only achievement we need to focus on, the only thing nature expects and records from us is how much we have gotten closer to reaching that “truly Human-level”, finding and fulfilling our unique, evolutionary Human role, purpose in Nature’s lawful and deterministic system.

In that respect, I am sorry to say, but everything that humanity — collectively and individually — achieved so far amounts to nothing. It has all been developed, acted out by our egoistic instincts without any conscious participation from our point of view.

Only now, in this generation do we have enough historic and contemporary experience, enough frustration, depression, emptiness and loss of hope about the future to start asking about, searching for overall meaning, purpose above all the chaotic, aimless activity we have been pursuing so far.

This is the start of a new, this time conscious Human development — above and against our inherently selfish, individualistic and exploitative (cancer-like) egos — where we will learn, accept and fulfil the unique, irreplaceable role and purpose Human beings have to fulfil in Nature’s system.

That will be our truly epic and historic achievement, above the instinctive, animate level where we exist right now.
