What is a crime against humanity?
Question from the Internet:
“Could giving up on all humanity, even permanently, be a crime against humanity itself?”
How could we give up on all humanity when we are an integral part of that humanity?
“Giving up” means that we already “had” humanity; we held, supported and cared for humanity. But is this actually true?
We are indeed all integral parts of humanity by default. But we all sense ourselves as independent and isolated “standalone” beings that ruthlessly compete with others, excessively consume whatever they can and succeed happily at the expense of others. We define and prove ourselves; we “make” ourselves by standing on and controlling others.
While this is “bad”, we are not sinful or criminals since we are born with this sense of egoistic and subjective independence and the need to survive at each other’s expense. We are born in a state where we stand against others and humanity since this is the only existence we know.
“Crime” or responsibility starts with free choice when we already recognize that our inherent state is “bad” and destructive when we already have a desire and a chance to change how we relate to each other, and when we choose not to change and become “good” to others.
This is where we stand today.
We already know that we exist in a globally integrated and interdependent system. We already know that the root cause of all our problems and destruction is our own inherently egocentric, exploitative and individualistic nature. And we also have a unique, purposeful and practical method that can help us change and further develop ourselves in a way that we can adapt ourselves to our global and integral conditions. We can learn how to exist through positive, constructive, mutually responsible and mutually complementing interconnections and cooperation — above and against our instincts.
Thus we commit a crime against humanity when despite all the above, we choose to continue blindly following our selfish, destructive and exploitative instincts destroying everything and everyone like cancer.
