What event will change our way of life?
Question from the Internet:
“Hypothetically, what could be an event that changes our way of life, and even our culture permanently? And why do people worry about it?”
If you look back at history, it is usually some catastrophic event or intolerable suffering that moves humanity from one civilization to another.
Usually, a certain ideology, governing or economic system or the status quo becomes so untenable and destructive that it exhausts all of its possibilities so much that either the actual leaders decide to change — usually through war — or people rise up and break the system through revolutions.
These days, we have multiple options for such cataclysmic development: we can have a nuclear world war, we can have a total socioeconomic collapse in the West, we can have such extreme weather events from climate change that vast areas of the planet become uninhabitable and our food and water supplies so depleted that riots and wars break out for the day to day survival or we can have unmanageable plagues wiping a large part of humanity off the planet — or all of these options together.
And all of this can start tomorrow, or we can say the process has already started.
We can only prevent such scenarios and initiate changes willingly, consciously, and on “our terms” if we understand that our only option for continuing survival is adapting ourselves to Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated system.
We will need to learn, understand and viscerally feel our total interdependence and that we are 100% responsible for each other like cells of the same living body. And we also have to understand and accept that this has nothing to do with our arbitrary, artificial and unfounded ideologies and philosophies based on our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and exploitative nature.
We must understand and accept that nature’s strict, unchanging and unforgiving laws obligate us to become similar to and integrated into Nature’s system by integrating with each other like Nature’s system does.
Then it will not have to be a catastrophic event and intolerable suffering that changes our way of life, but we will change it consciously, willingly, purposefully and with full understanding.
