What are we, happy or miserable?

Question from the Internet:

“On a scale of miserable to happy, how would you rate your life so far, and why?”

On the one hand, my personal life has been overwhelmingly happy and successful so far.

On the other hand, I am desperately miserable as humanity as a whole is standing before seemingly inevitable self-destruction. Either we will destroy ourselves directly through wars or societal upheaval, or it will happen “indirectly” as we are totally and desperately helpless in face of the growing global problems that can threaten our survival even in themselves, not to mention in their combination.

We have evolved into the global and integral age, where the principle of “one for all, all for one” works in practice. Whether we are aware or not, regardless of how much we agree with it, with every action and even with our thoughts, we inevitably influence the whole, globally integrated and interdependent human system and Nature beyond it.

And since we are all born with an inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric, subjective and exploitative nature, basically whatever we do causes destruction and harm to others and the whole system.

Thus by now, it is irrelevant what lives we have lived personally or even how we feel ourselves within our close circle. If humanity, in general, is suffering and is falling apart along the seams, we are all responsible for it, and we will all pay the price if we do not start the necessary change within us and between us.
