We will not survive unless we change ourselves first
Question from the Internet:
“In order for humans to survive, humanity must be willing to advance medical science, end war, create new housing initiatives, create endless energy reserves, and end starvation. Yet talking about this seems to disturb people why?”
I am not sure why it would disturb people. On the other hand, talking about, even trying to implement these concepts will lead nowhere.
After all, on the surface medical science is constantly advancing, leaders and nations want to avoid wars and maintain peace (at least close to home), we see frantic building projects, expansion of Human settlements everywhere, we are drilling, building, rerooting, channeling everything we can for more energy and we have more than enough food, we know that at least third of food produced ends up as waste.
The problem is not what we do. The problem is why we do it and with what purpose we are doing it.
Everything we do, we do with egocentric, subjective, self-serving, and self-justifying intentions, goals and we do it at each other’s and Nature’s expense. There is more than enough housing but it is priced beyond what “simple people” can afford. We have enough energy and resources but it is accumulated and shared in a completely unequal manner. We have more food than we need but again it is distributed unequally.
We are on the brink of self-destruction because our inherent ego makes us live and behave like cancer.
So in order to survive, to change our societies, our lives, first we would need to change ourselves and develop selfless, altruistic intentions above and against our inherently selfish, egotistic nature.
And this disturbs, rejects many people because we are ready to do anything — to change, silence even kill others, uproot, change, destroy everything around us — except to change ourselves.
But we have no other choice unless we change ourselves and by that, we change the world, or we will self-destruct. And this has nothing to do with our misguided Human ideologies, philosophies, religions, or “spiritual teachings” — all built by, for the ego. It is because we break, ignore Nature’s strict, unforgiving laws that sustain the balance and homeostasis without which life is impossible.
