We need to switch from quantitative growth to qualitative growth!

Question from the Internet:

““The bottom line is that growth and sustainability and inclusivity, there need not be trade-offs between them. They need not be antagonistic to each other,” said Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director-general of the WTO. What do you think?”

This is an empty slogan as long as we continue our present focus on reckless quantitative growth, where we measure everything through GDP figures and stock exchange indexes and measure even human beings according to their material wealth.

As long as our society is built upon excessive overconsumption for excessive personal profit through a ruthless competition where we each succeed — knowingly or unknowingly — at the expense of others and Nature we will continue to sink into ever-deeper crisis until we completely self-destruct.

True sustainability and inclusivity and relative equality in human society are possible only, when we switch from quantitative growth to qualitative growth, similarly to how after the breakneck growth of childhood we start to mature as adults.

In an adult’s body continuing, reckless and quantitative growth means cancer developing and it is exactly the same as what humanity has become in nature’s body.

If we want to stabilize ourselves and work towards true sustainability and inclusivity we will need to rebuild and reorganize global human society according to Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated template.

Only such qualitative growth — increasing and strengthening the inevitable, mutually responsible and mutually complementing interconnections and cooperation between individuals and nations — is not contradictory or antagonistic to sustainability and inclusivity.

WE do not have any free choices about his, since we exist in Nature’s lawful and deterministic system where absolute laws govern mutual integration. If we want to safeguard our continuing, collective human survival, we will need to adapt ourselves to Nature’s blueprint.

Human beings are the only parts of Nature that have to achieve this adaptation consciously and by their own efforts — giving us the ability to become the peak of Natural evolution, to become the Natural system’s only fully conscious, fully integrated and at the same time independent observers and partners.
