We need to reveal the forces, desires that drive us — so we can learn how to handle them

Opinion on the Internet about the Stanford Prison Experiment:

“I see the results of that experiment as solid proof of why we should always minimize the power of individuals over others because of the simple truth that power corrupts and grows in scope and geography.

And this can only be managed by minimizing social laws that intrude upon the simple individual rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

True freedom carries personal responsibility. outcomes can never be guaranteed. Attempts to guarantee or even promote certain outcomes requires giving the aforementioned power to individuals.

This is not a political idea. It is an observation of human nature. Personal charity is also a feature of human nature, and it will always have to be enough if we are to prevent a “Stanford Experiment” that encompasses all of society.”

Yes, first of all, we would all need to recognize and accept what desires, intentions, potential forces work in all of us. It is unpleasant of course, but we cant’ balance those forces unless we know about them.

This is where a unique educational method in safe, mutually supportive, and mutually complementing environment can help us to “draw out” the negative inclinations, instincts in ourselves so we could learn how to harness, channel them towards positive, collective goals, directions.
