We can’t escape the influence of the environment — but we can choose our environment

Question from the Internet:

“Why do most people on Earth allow their environments to dictate the way their lives should be?”

We simply have no other choice. Knowingly or unknowingly we are all the product of the environment we exist in.

The environment dictates our values, our goals and aspirations, we subconsciously jump onto every “bandwagon” that flows in the environment either positively or negatively relating to everything that happens and people deem important.

This is why wise empirical scientists — who have been studying human nature for millennia — state that our only actual free choice in life is choosing our environment. And if we feel that there is no environment we would like to become a product of, then we can ourselves build a new environment that serves as a “human incubator” where we can develop and become the best version of ourselves.

We are social and emotional beings we simply cannot isolate ourselves, we can’t separate from other people, especially not in this globally integrated and interdependent world we evolved into. But we can choose or determine the environment that will influence and shape us.
