We can change and measure how we change in the right environment towards a specific goal

Question from the Internet:

“It’s part of human nature to change. How do you know if the way you changed (are changing) is positive or negative?”

It is true that it is part of Human nature to change, on the other hand we really don’t like to change.
Usually we change when we have no other options, when our inherently egocentric “pleasure/pain calculations” dictate that in order to gain pleasures or to escape pain we need to move and change our present situation, state.

And changing ourselves is almost impossible, we would rather change everything and everybody before we ourselves change.

Most of the changes we go through are instinctive, according to the above mentioned “pleasure/pain program”, and we define the changes as positive or negative according to our own egocentric, subjective calculations: did I get what I want, did I escape pain or not?

In order to make the changes conscious, and in order to come closer to true measurements of “positive/negative” we need to enter a purposeful process towards a unique goal, purpose we commit to. Only then can we objectively measure the changes as positive or negative in relation to how close or far we are from that goal, purpose.

And to have the stamina, inspiration, the strength to constantly move towards such a purpose we need a unique, closed, mutually supportive and mutually complementing environment where everybody is committed towards the same goal.

Then we can help each other focus on the goal and have the power, ability to keep changing, fine tuning ourselves as necessary.
