We become Human when we use our mind to control our desires through conscious intentions

Question from the Internet:

“What is the significance of reason being one of the main qualities of human beings?”

We are primarily emotional creatures. Everything we do is dictated by our desires, our constant instinctive drive to find fulfillment for the “animate” and “social” cravings of food, sex, family, wealth, power, fame and knowledge.

And our perception of reality is based on subjectively tuned sensations, and how we interpret them depends 100% on our mood, emotional state and the emotional impressions, labels we attach to the sensory data.

Our reason, intellect serves as an auxiliary device, to sort, catalog, interpret our emotional impressions and to prepare, fine-tune us for more. And by default, as long as we blindly follow our instinctively egocentric, subjective program, our mind, intellect adds very little to who we are.

We can awaken, utilize our unique Human mind - that is capable of critical self-assessment, initiating self-change - to learn how to evaluate, control, channel our otherwise blind, automatic desires.

Through this special Human mind - reinforced, upgraded in a purposeful, closed, mutually complementing, mutually supportive environment - we can learn how to live above the desires, on the level of intentions.

Then through the intentions we can harness, lead, tame our desires and use them towards positive, constructive goals, purpose.
This is when we become “truly Human”.
