Question from the Internet:
“What would it take for the nations of the world to stop seeing war as a necessary evil and start seeing it as something that can be overcome, like polio?”
You are right. At the moment we accept war as something necessary to ‘solve” the usual civilization-ending crisis that arrives at the end of each, helplessly recurring vicious cycle.
It is the same in our generation, where the inevitable preparations for an all-ending, probably nuclear war have already started since as our socioeconomic system is collapsing and we are under pressure from natural disasters leaders will not find any other “solutions” to control the situation — except that this time there will be no victors, only losers but we can’t stop our blind, instinctive actions.
Unless of course, we have enough willingness, sensitivity, and fear to recognize and accept the root cause of all our historic and present problems — the inherently cancer-like, selfish, subjective, and all-consuming ego driving everything we do.
Only after such unpleasant and humbling but crucially necessary self-recognition can we start treating this root cause, by consciously, methodically learning how to overcome and control, harness our egos, channeling its awesome power towards positive, constructive, and mutually beneficial goals, purposes.
This is the task of our generation — not according to some misguided, arbitrary ideology, philosophy, or religion, but by accepting Nature’s laws that sustain the balance and homeostasis life depends on, choosing to actively adapt ourselves and our global human society to them.
