Unity above differences

“What are some concrete instances when unity exists even though there are differences happening among people?”

Usually, we see such unlikely unity between otherwise different, diverse people during great crisis situations, wars, or natural catastrophes.

Just like in the jungle, when at times of natural calamities even the predators join the preys in searching for water, shelter, escape, only actual or imminent pain, suffering can forge otherwise incompatible people into unity.

Of course, human beings have another option, since we have a conscious, human intellect that can facilitate us to rise above instinctive behavior. We can learn how to unite, work together through mutually responsible and mutually complementing cooperation — above vast differences, despite instinctive distrust and animosity — in order to acquire the necessary, global problem-solving ability and to facilitate our collective survival in Nature’s fully integrated and interdependent system.

Only human beings have this ability to consciously direct, safeguard their own survival above and against blind instincts.
