“True love” can cure and cover everything
Question from the Internet:
“If all human beings loved all creatures, wouldn’t all creatures, all our children, and all human beings throughout the world know security? How can selfish egoism or national security seeking rival the efficacy of universal love in terms of security?”
I fully agree with you. The problem is that “true love” — although we keep talking, dreaming, singing, and writing poems about it — is against our inherent nature. We can even say that at this stage, we have no idea what “true love” is.
We are all born with a 100% self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric, and individualistic nature. Through our 100% introverted band subjective perception of reality, we are totally locked inside ourselves. We see and experience from “total reality” only what interests us, what can serve our 100% self-serving and self-justifying “pleasure/pain’ calculations.
When we look at and judge others, we do so through our limited and distorted filters, and consciously or unconsciously, we have to “put the others down” so we can justify ourselves above them.
And all our societies are built on ruthless and exclusive competition, where individuals and nations try to succeed and survive at each other’s expense, fighting for the last drop of profit and resources.
This is how we are all programmed by evolution. The only “love” we know is “self-love.” And when we seemingly “love” another, we do so because by this “love,” we ourselves receive some pleasant fulfillment, reward, or self-justification. Wise sages call this “love” “fish-love,” meaning that “I love fish because it tastes good.” If it did not taste good, I would not love it, but I hated it.
The totally selfless and unconditional love of a mother towards her children is the closest example we get for “true love,” but it is programmed by evolution, making mothers feel their children as part of themselves, so the survival and propagation of the species would be safeguarded. And this “mother’s love” exists all through nature; there is nothing “human” about it.
On the other hand, only human beings are capable of “true love,” but it is something we need to learn, practice and develop “out of nothing,” since initially, we have only a “spark” of this ability in us which spark remains hidden and dormant in most people.
Around us, “true love” exists everywhere in nature; this is how nature’s system survives and is capable of creating and nurturing life. But even this “love” nature exists by is not “true love” since nature is instinctive and unconscious. All of nature’s elements naturally and blindly “love” and serve one another since this is how they are programmed.
We can observe this instinctive “true love” in action in our own biological bodies. If the cells and organs of our body did not selflessly and unconditionally “love and serve” one another, even at the expense of “individual survival,” we would not be able to exist even for a moment.
Only this “natural love” facilitates the existence of complex, mutually integrated, and mutually complementing living systems, where each element has only one purpose: to love and serve the whole system and facilitate its survival and optimal development.
Our Human advantage and uniqueness is that we need to understand and develop this “true love” consciously, “supernaturally” meaning above and against our inherently distrusting and hateful nature, where we care only about ourselves, and we happily succeed and develop at the expense of others even when we do not need to control, manipulate and exploit others for our necessities, and we still do it.
When human beings willingly and consciously learn and practice how to “love and serve” others totally selflessly and unconditionally, when we accept that our “right to exist” is to immerse into the desires and needs of others in order to fulfill them without any egocentric and subjective bias, according to the viewpoints and expectations of those others, then we will rise to a completely different level of truly Human existence.
When we become able to build a single, mutually integrated, and mutually complementing Human organism with a single, collective consciousness and composite perception of reality, all our present problems and crisis situations — including the very real and immediate threat of global self-destruction — will vanish.
And while in this process, we will become like all other elements in nature; since we achieve this state consciously and by our own efforts, we will gain a unique, integrated, and at the same time independent “inner view” and attainment of nature’s system no other element in it has.
With the consciously and proactively developed collective consciousness, we will become nature’s conscious mind and equal partner. We will also practically and tangibly transcend all our inherently egocentric and subjective limitations like time or space and will sense existence independent of physical life or death — even if we still exist in our biological bodies for the time being.
But this all starts with learning and practicing “true love,” initially in smaller groups where we connect with others who are already sensitive and willing to start this new phase of Human development and commit themselves to become “true lovers and servants” who are willing to disappear and dissolve into the desires and viewpoint of others without expecting anything in return.
And if we start this “supernatural” — above inherent nature — development willingly and we commit ourselves, then we will be able to harness and draw on ourselves special developmental forces of nature that can actually perform the unique changes and “upgrades” on us so we could start loving above and against hate, and start connecting above and against instinctive rejection and distrust.
Then the truly Human being — that is capable of “true love” — emerges from this unique contrast.
