There is no return to the “old life”
Opinion from the Internet about the strange changes during the pandemic:
I was amazed by the number of times I heard “This has been the greatest summer since high school” around the campfire. The campfire that half the people sitting there hadn’t been around in 20 years. The boats were lined up in driveways and stuffed wherever you could find space, my cousins Yamaha dealership sold 2 years worth of ATV’s and dirt bikes in 3 months. I remember my brother saying “I kind of hope COVID never goes away…” I said “I know what you mean…obviously you don’t want people dying and getting sick but as soon as it’s gone we’ll all go back to the lives we hate”
Except that we do not have to go back to the life we hate. And we get a “helping hand” from the virus as it will “methodically” remove all the unnecessary excesses from our lives. The “Matrix” is broken and cannot be resuscitated, regardless of what trillions of virtual rescue packages leaders will announce.
So the time of “campfires”, a new level of social bonding, mutual responsibility will appear, we will rediscover that life is built of the mutually responsible and mutually complementing Human connections.
And this is not some New Age spirituality or the new hippy movement, not even Communism! We are forced in a strange way to learn Nature’s laws, to recognize out of hardship that if we want to survive, develop, then we will have to do it collectively together. Not against each other, at each other’s expense, but together, otherwise Nature won’t let us continue, survive.
