The Zeitgeist of our times
I think that the Zeitgeist of our times it is “denial”, which has become particularly obvious now through the pandemic, the quarantine and after.
We are in complete denial about our unsustainable, excessively overconsuming system heading for self-destruction.
It is mind-boggling how addicted we have become to the inflated, artificial, and honestly inhuman life we have been sold for the last few decades.
We are worshipping virtual wealth, celebrities and “influencers” with zero substance, we are hooked to a very cheap entertainment industry that plays on our lowliest instincts, desires and we accumulate goods we actually do not need and can’t afford.
We are depressed, empty, hopeless about the future so we close our eyes, fill ourselves with mind-numbing substances, laugh at ourselves through TV-shows like “Black Mirror”, receive a chance from a virus to change, and then plunge, plug back into the same “Matrix”.
Fortunately, there seems to be a growing, healthy minority who refuses to plug back and want to explore an alternative development for us, which could offer the “rescue boat” while our great and proud Titanic is sinking fast.
Nature’s integral system with its “iron laws” sustaining balance and homeostasis will not let us return to life before the virus (especially as it was already in perpetual crisis). We will not survive unless we learn how to adapt ourselves to Nature’s laws of integration, to a lifestyle within the optimal parameters of natural necessities and available resources.
So the small minority has a very great responsibility on their shoulders to learn these laws, adapt themselves to them, and then lead the rest of crisis-ridden, desperately helpless Humanity after them.
