The uniqueness of Human integration in evolution

Opinion from the Internet about altruism, Nature’s progress:

“One of the plausible explanations coming from the perspective of evolutionary psychology would be that altruistic behavior leads to advantages related to survival and reproduction for the organism engaging in such behavior.

There would be risks associated with such behavior but also rewards, so there are risk/reward calculations being done on the cognitive unconscious as well as conscious levels, depending on the circumstances and the level of development of the organism we are talking about.

Some of the evolutionary explanations of altruistic behavior in social species are ‘inclusive fitness’ the idea that individuals gain reproductive benefits by helping their relatives (shared genes), and ‘reciprocal altruism’ where an individual reduces their own fitness to increase another individual’s fitness, with the notion that the other individual will act in a similar manner at a later time. This concept is similar to the ‘tit for tat’ strategy used in game theory.

Of course, there are other plausible explanations for altruistic behavior, also the ones stemming from other disciplines. I would consider the ones I mentioned as ‘mid-level’ theories.”

Yes, it is very interesting. And we can clearly see this in Nature, possibly most notably when the initially “cancer-like” single-cell organisms “decided” to form multi-cellular organisms for the obvious evolutionary benefit.

Humans are different as we are very conscious about our selves, moreover serving, protecting elevating this self above others is our “main function”, this is how we are programmed.

Thus while unity, mutually responsible and mutually complementing cooperation in Human society, developing towards Humanity itself becoming a “multi-cellular superorganism” is clearly beneficial and could elevate us to a qualitatively much higher, conscious existence — on par with nature itself — our self-serving, self-protective, self-justifying ego stops us.

This is also purposeful from evolution, as this resistance of the ego makes us think, analyze who we are where we are heading as at the same time we feel the increasing evolutionary pressure towards integration, building that single Human “super-organism”.

This pressure will grow, crisis situations, different Natural disasters will increase while the residence of the ego towards unity, cooperation will also grow. At some point we will have to make a decision if we “choose” a path of suffering, intolerable pain, crisis forcing us together, or we choose to start a conscious process and become the “multi-cellular” Humanity.

This mutual integration will go far beyond simple business partnership, “tit for tat” agreements, or even forming sports teams or commandos for success. Evolution demands a full, seamless integration where we all become like individual cells of a single body, sensing a truly collective existence with a collective mind we can all access, share.

Our Human advantage in evolution is the full awareness all through this process (compared to the blind, instinctive integration of other animals), and the retained consciousness, independent viewpoint even after achieving the integration with each other and Nature. This is how we will fulfill our true Human potential — the future collective Human consciousness becoming Nature’s ”brain”, witnessing, governing part in tandem with evolution’s plan.
