The unique Jewish Unity is the basis for everything

An article in The Jerusalem Post:

My comment:

I fully agree.

We need to remember and revive the feeling that Israel is not a simple country like any other. Israel carries a special spiritual force that Jews awakened when they assembled to become a Nation millennia ago.

Moreover, we also have the duty to pass this spiritual force onto others.

But we will keep failing and falling into the same traps as long as we also do not remember what the root and key to that unique Jewish spirituality are.

The notions of “Being Jewish” and “Jewish Nation” are synonymous with an unparalleled unity and mutual guarantee without which there is no “Jewishness,” and there is no “Nation.”

Jews received the Torah and became a Nation only when they committed to become “as one man with one heart” and when they dedicated their lives to a special “mutual guarantee” where each Jew became absolutely and unconditionally responsible for each and every other Jew — while standing around Mount Sinai, meaning while sensing the instinctive mutual distrust and animosity trying to reject them inside.

Without this unique, “supernatural” unity that is achieved and sustained above and against the inherently selfish, egotistic, and exploitative human nature, everything we have — the Torah, beings Jews, the Nation of Israel — remains “soulless” and powerless.

As our predecessors heard at Sinai, “Unity, mutual guarantee or death.”

We cannot express and understand it any more simply and succinctly.
