The True Nature of Choice: Overcoming Inherent Nature
The Illusion of Free Choice
Many questions arise regarding free choice — whether we truly have independent free will or not. In reality, our choice is limited to drawing upon and harnessing a unique force that can neutralize and ultimately control our inherent nature, allowing us to act and exist above it.
In existence, there are only two fundamental forces: the totally selfish desire for pleasure and the totally altruistic desire to bestow and love unconditionally. When under the control of either of these forces, we have no real choice at all.
By default, we operate under the rule of the selfish desire for pleasure. This force governs our thoughts, decisions, and actions so completely that we remain unaware of its control, as we know no other form of existence. Thus, the first step in exercising true choice is recognizing our complete submission to this selfish nature. As we begin to see the harm and destruction it causes — to ourselves and others — we develop a genuine dislike and rejection of this inherent tendency.
The Path to Transformation
Breaking free from the ego’s control requires a unique method applied within a special, mutually committed and devoted environment. Within such a setting, individuals work together with a single focus: to acquire the opposite qualities of selfless love and bestowal, thereby aligning themselves with reality’s single governing force. This alignment enables them to reveal, attain, and partner with this force in the act of creation and life-nurturing.
This method must also help individuals develop an intuitive sense — perhaps even a taste — of what it means to exist through the godly qualities of love and bestowal. On the one hand, by engaging in mutual efforts, participants expose their inherent selfish nature, which then resists and attempts to undermine their progress. On the other hand, they must continuously strengthen their yearning for godly qualities, recognizing that only through these can they attain true fulfillment and alignment with the Creator.
As the contrast between their limited, ego-driven existence and the possibility of godly qualities grows stronger, participants experience an increasing aversion to their inherent nature. When this contrast reaches a breaking point — when they feel completely incapable of achieving their goal on their own — it gives rise to a desperate, all-consuming plea for assistance.
The Power of Collective Prayer
This profound and wholehearted request, made not for oneself but for others, serves as the true turning point. It opens unique channels in reality through which developing forces begin to operate. This transformative prayer must be collective, where each individual asks not for their own advancement but for the progress of others. Seeing others succeed in reaching similarity with reality’s single governing force must become the sole and ultimate yearning of each participant.
Only when this request is aimed selflessly and with the intent to serve does it activate the developing forces that can begin their work. The participants do not ask for personal gain or enlightenment; rather, they request the ability to act with absolute and pure love and bestowal toward others. In fact, it is more important for them that their fellow participants attain this state before they do.
The Environment as the Incubator for Change
This entire gradual process, which enables individuals to acquire divine qualities and experience true human existence, can only unfold within a properly structured and committed environment. True free choice exists solely in the decision to enter and strengthen such an environment. This means actively participating in and reinforcing it with full dedication, as individual progress depends entirely on this setting.
In this incubator, each person also plays a crucial role in supporting others, creating the most optimal conditions for mutual development. Through this mutual effort, even seemingly negative qualities such as jealousy, envy, ambition, and the desire for respect and power can be refined and harnessed for constructive growth. If directed correctly, these forces push individuals toward their ultimate goal, serving as fuel for advancement rather than as obstacles.
Redirecting Our Inherent Nature
Within this environment, all collected emotional impressions, deficiencies, desires, and aspirations combine into a unified force capable of driving individuals beyond their inherent nature. This collective strength provides the necessary motivation and momentum to resist the pull of the ego, which constantly seeks to maintain control.
Crucially, the new, godly qualities acquired in this process do not cancel out one’s original nature but rather complement it. Even as individuals attain similarity with reality’s single governing force, they retain their unique, independent perspectives. This allows them to serve as objective observers who can verify and justify the Creator as the single benevolent force governing all of existence.
The Ultimate Purpose of Choice
In the end, the true purpose of free choice is not about selecting between minor personal decisions in daily life. Rather, it is about choosing whether or not to embark on the path toward transforming one’s nature. The only real choice we have is whether we will enter and support the environment that enables this transformation to occur. Everything else unfolds as a result of this fundamental decision.
By aligning our desires with the Creator, by choosing to cultivate the qualities of love and bestowal, we participate in the ongoing process of creation itself. We begin to see that what we once perceived as separate forces — pleasure-seeking and bestowal — can be harmonized when directed toward the collective good. In this realization lies the true essence of human existence, where we no longer struggle against our nature but learn to use it as a tool for unity, fulfillment, and true freedom.
