Humanity’s most singular and dangerous activity is blindly following our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, subjective and exploitative nature.

It is this inherent nature in us that drives us towards constant and excessive overconsumption, towards the incessant ruthless competition to survive and succeed at the expense of each other and at the expense of Nature.

It is this inherent nature in us that also caused history’s helplessly recurring vicious cycles.

If we want to solve our mounting global problems, if we want to safeguard our collective human survival — and there is no individual or even national survival in the globally integrated and interdependent world we live in — then we have to learn how to behave and exist above and against our inherent nature.

Only unprecedented, positive and sustainable, mutually responsible and mutually complementing interconnections and cooperation — above and despite everything that instinctively tries to separate and reject people and nations from each other — can give us a lifeline.
