The safest place on Earth
Question from the Internet:
Where is the safest place to hide on Earth?
If you look at, want to follow some of the richest people on Earth, I can tell you that a few of them are building super-bunkers around Queenstown, New Zealand, believing that this might be a safe place they can survive the coming apocalypse at. Others debate it, especially as New Zealand is prone to earthquakes and most people are predicting a big one coming for years.
In truth, it does not matter. If an apocalypse is truly coming — and there are many signs that we can find ourselves an unprecedented global meltdown any moment, that could start from different causes in multiple locations — we are not safe anywhere.
We exist in a globally integrated, interdependent human system which is, in turn, an integral part of Nature’s fully integrated and interdependent system. We are all sitting on the same global ship, on this single planet and whatever happens, will affect all of us. It might not be to the same extent, but nobody can escape the effects of any changes, be it positive or negative.
I think this is becoming very clear for all of us. What is still not clear is that we all have absolute, mutual responsibility for everything that happens, we all have to feel personally responsible for the whole world.
And this has nothing to do with any of our misguided, arbitrary ideologies, p[philosophies, religions, or any of our methods. This is how it is according to Nature’s strict, unchanging and unforgiving laws.
Thus if we want safety, if we want to safeguard our collective survival — and there is no individual or national survival in a global, integral world — then we need to learn and feel our absolute mutual responsibility in order to put it into practice and build the “Nature-like”, mutually complementing interconnections, cooperation where each of makes all calculations for the benefit, wellbeing of the whole system above and against our instinctively egocentric, subjective calculations.
The safest place on Earth is within our positive, constructive, mutually responsible connections.
