The real Exodus

An article in The Jerusalem Post:

My comment:

The whole Torah and the “stories” of our Holidays symbolically describe states we all have to go through inside — while some of the “stories” also happened and happen on the physical level.

The Passover “story” might be the strongest such symbolic “story,” describing how we all have to escape the rulership of our own “Pharaoh,” the inherently selfish, exploitative, and hateful human ego that controls us from birth.

Only by escaping our own “Egypt” and going through the cleansing of the “desert” in us — not being controlled by the ego but not yet reaching the “godly qualities” of mutual love and bestowal between us — can we reach “Eretz Israel,” the cleansed and corrected “Ratzon” in us, when we become to use all our desires and inclinations only for the sake of others, building unity and mutual guarantee between us where all serve only others and the whole, and by that, we become similar to the single life-creating and governing force in reality.

This is why our sages wrote that we all have to feel as if we ourselves escaped Egypt and reached the corrected “Land of Israel” in us and between us.

The physical State of Israel will become the rightful and safe homeland for Jews when we all go through our own “internal Exodus” and learn again how to overcome and cover the instinctive, mutual “unfounded hatred” with “brotherly love” and mutual guarantee.

Thus, we need to pay attention and implement the true meaning of Passover, especially in our turbulent times!
