The media is just another symptom of our inherent human nature
Question from the Internet:
“Does the media make the world seem like it’s a very bad place, even though it’s not?”
It is true that the media is making an already “bad”, crisis-ridden and fast collapsing things worse as it tries to brainwash and manipulate people according to paid interest. The mass media — in every country, regardless of ideology, political or governing system — has become propaganda machinery, creating — together with the entertainment industry — a real-life Matrix for the masses.
On the other hand, we are not coerced to consume this, to subjugate ourselves to this with a pistol held to our forehead. Most people readily consume whatever they get from this propaganda machinery even if they know it is fake and it is a lie.
They are even making “documentaries” and movies for us to see how much we are manipulated and we still continue staying plugged in, moreover, we also contribute to the same with our active participation on social media!
The problem is that the basic qualities, values, aspirations and behaviour of the “Matrix” and our own inherent internal program are very much the same. We are all based on 100% self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and subjective calculations. We all thrive on ruthless competition and to succeed at the expense of others — we have myriads of examples of this from the board games we play with our families, to how we support our favourite sports teams, how we try to succeed in school or at our workplaces, and so on.
This is how we are programmed and this is why the general propaganda that supports and covets the same behaviour and lifestyle “whispers to our ears” what we want to hear.
The media, just like everything else we see in our societies, is only a symptom of our own inherent nature. If we do not like what we see, then we will need to change how we behave and how we approach the world and others. Only when our own attitudes, our values and aspiration and as a result the connections we build with others change, then we will see a different human society with different leaders and with a different media.
