The human ego is the driving force of human history

Question from the Internet:

“Has anybody ever calculated the concrete values or worth of energies and resources mankind has spent on hatred, divisive pride, conflicts, arms, and wars since World War I?”

Basically, we can put anything and everything humanity has ever done into that basket.

And this is because we are all born with an inherently self-serving, self-justifying, individualistic and exploitative ego. We define and measure ourselves in comparison to others, and we enjoy surviving and succeeding at the expense of others.

And this insatiable and irrepressible ego has been steadily growing and intensifying through history, reaching its maximum intensity today. It does not matter what we create or invent; it does not matter what “intentions or goals” we start with. In the end, everything becomes a driver and source of selfish profit or a weapon and tool of manipulation and control against others — even food and medicine.

This is why unless we identify and start addressing our own ego behind our cancer-like behaviour and then willingly agree to change and further develop ourselves so we can harness and control the ego’s irrepressible power, we will not survive.
