The ancient Jewish method of societal governance we need to polish off today
Failing liberal democracy
Israel’s democracy is very messy, the situation changes daily, the country doesn’t have a proper constitution, the government is still up in the air.
Many — mostly liberal Jews from the Diaspora — challenge challenge the Jewish State to implement liberal democracy closer to the model other countries are using.
There are a few problems with that. First of of liberal, parliamentary democracy has totally failed Humanity, although this was our greatest hope for establishing an equal, peaceful, sustainable Human society everybody can copy and use.
Moreover, liberal democracy has nothing to do with Jewish values, the original Jewish system/method Israel — and others should be using for a stable, sustainable society.
Liberal democracy - like all other governing, social systems Humanity tried over 2 millennia - is a desperate and failed attempt to organize a sustainable, peaceful, equal society out of egotistic, selfish, greedy individuals.
An equal society organised from below
The Jewish system - which fell apart, got forgotten with the fall of the 2nd Temple - is very different.
It starts with organizing society along small, closed, mutually supportive, mutually complementing environments that are capable of certain self-governance, problem solving with special workshops, equal, collective decision making.
Such small "cells" are then organized into ever greater circles until we reach such "organs" that can send their independent representatives into the "governing body".
This governing body - which used to be the 120 member Sanhedrin - then creates laws, gives guidance on national issues and on other issues the smaller circles - at any lower level- couldn’t find solutions for.
Governance based on the “iron laws” of Nature
The Sanhedrin used to be above any criticism, doubt as they - through their "true public service", unconditional, selfless dedication to serving the public, making decisions through as selfless, collective process - become so integrated, that they achieved such similarity to Nature’s integrated system that they ruled according to Nature’s absolute, unquestionable, "iron laws" which facilitated positive results in each and every case.
This is the Jewish method that works, and this is what Israel needs to revive and then teach to Humanity as our present civilization - built on liberal democracy and free market capitalism, our last, failed hope to build an egoistic, narcissistic society that can last - is collapsing.
Most importantly this Jewish system has nothing to do with religion (Judaism as we know today originated after the fall of the 2nd Temple when this above described method stopped functioning for different reasons), it had no it’s too do with political ideology, philosophies it utopia.
As it is based on Nature’s absolute, iron laws sustaining balance and homeostasis in closed living systems (like Humanity), this is the only system that can give us the necessary stable foundations for our collective Human survival.
