Rising above our differences
Question from the Internet:
“Are there many people who are so different in their opinion that they could never come to anything more than live and let live at the best?”
I am sorry to sound harsh, but by nature, we are all like that.
We are all born with an inherent self-centered, self-serving, self-justifying, and individualistic nature and our perception of reality is 100% egotistic and subjective.
Thus we have no chance of accepting the opinions of others, we can never agree or convince each other. What we call “agreements” are temporary truces, our alliances are based on fleeting mutual benefit.
Our selfish, egoistic, and narcissistic nature has become so strong that today we can’t even hold together or even build families.
We can see how incapable we are of solving problems that require sustainable, positive, constructive cooperation, when we would need to make calculations for the benefit of others, for the benefit of the whole collective above selfish benefit.
Thus our problem-solving ability and collective survival depends on first of all achieving the “at least do no harm” state you mentioned.
This is already very difficult since in a fully integrated and interdependent world even moving a single finger, even with our thoughts we already irrevocably influence the whole system and since our instincts are always selfish, egoistic, we cause harm immediately. Thus we have to gradually, methodically have to learn how not to harm each other, how to maintain this fragile “truce”.
Our collective fear from a global meltdown, our increasing, a very realistic threat of imminent global self-destruction will help us achieve this together with the right educational method.
When we learned how not to cause harm to each other and established a safe, mutually respectful balance, and built a certain mutual trust between us, then we can learn how to actually, actively cause only good to each other, how to mutually serve, complement each other.
And by that, we will initiate an unprecedented flow of life, communication between us that will give us a qualitatively much higher, collective sense of existence that will help us maintain the new state of mutual, altruistic complementation above our inherent nature.
