“Prayer of Many”

An article in The Jerusalem Post:

My comment:

From the article: “In moments of prayer, individuals recognize that they are not the ultimate source of power in their lives. This acknowledgment is humbling, fostering a sense of humility that is crucial during times of threat.”

This is very important, especially in the dire state the Jewish people find themselves in again. We are facing multiple problems on multiple fronts – especially the constantly recurring “unfounded hatred” between us that makes us vulnarable towards our external enemies – and it is very clear that we ourselves do not have lasting and proper solutions to them.

Acknowledging that there is a higher, all-encompassing force we can turn to and can harness is already half the solution.

Of course, prayer is not something passive.

A true prayer from the bottom of one’s heart comes only after we have exerted all possible efforts to solve the problems ourselves and we see we can’t.

Most importantly, we have to heed the advice we received from our greatest sages: the most effective prayer is the “Prayer of Many”, when we pray collectively and we all pray for the benefit and success of others and the whole Nation. We can draw and harness that “higher power” only when we become again a Nation of “One Man with One Heart” each existing and acting for the sake of others.
