Politics — A fragile balancing act that is now falling apart

Question from the Internet:

“What issues do you think politicians overplay, and what issues do they ignore that they should give greater emphasis to?”

We are all “very simple” creatures. We act in order to gain greater pleasures, wealth and power while we want to run away from any suffering or unpleasant situation.

The only difference in between people is the hunger to get what we want, and how much we are willing to sacrifice ourselves and others to get what we want.

Those at the peak of the pyramid of human society — including politicians — are the hungriest people, and they are also willing to sacrifice themselves — and take multiple blows — and also to sacrifice others for their fulfilment.

Politicians actually have to perform very gentle and sensitive balancing acts to achieve the above. They have to keep giving to their public enough, so they have a chance to maintain their power and become reelected again, while they also have to satisfy their sponsors and all the “invisible” forces that control them. At the same time, they also have to navigate the increasingly treacherous waters of global geopolitics and multiple crisis situations.

And as we can see, now they are all failing since in this globally integrated and interdependent world, the “old”, inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and exploitative methods do not work any longer. And they are desperately helpless since they are not educated about this global and integral world, and they have no idea what else they should be doing. Unfortunately, they are getting more and more inclined to use the “tried and trusted” historical “solution” of war.

And the public is also desperate. We already know that nothing will change by electing new politicians and governments; even if we shift from “right to left” or from “left to right” will not make any difference.

So now we are all perplexed and desperate, and we do not know what to do!
