Overpopulation is not our problem, our selfish ego that consumes everything excessively is
Question from the Internet:
“Could global tensions be eased if the world’s population was reduced by 25%, or would the decrease in population cause additional unrest?”
First of all “overpopulation" is not the cause of our problems, moreover many studies project that after a peak in a few years global population will start to steadily decrease naturally.
We already have many historic examples of leaders, nations trying to forcefully control human population, and it never worked, each time it has failed.
There are those who would like to use wars to “cull” the excess, the “efficiency, success" of that solution I leave to you to decide.
Blaming overpopulation for our global problems is just another way of dodging the recognition of our real problem, which is the inherently selfish, egocentric, overconsuming and exploitative way we each live our lives if we have the opportunity.
It is the “footprint" of every person — especially in Western societies — which is way beyond true necessities. It is our excessive overconsumption, and how we thrive to succeed, survive at each other’s and nature’s expense that drives us towards self-destruction.
Thus it is our own nature we need to correct, harness, shift towards the optimal parameters of natural necessities and available resources. Then we will be able to solve our problems.
And as with everything this shift has to be conducted with coercion, without oppressing anything in order to make the changes positive and sustainable. And that is possible only through the right education.
