Our values are determined by the values of the environment we live in

Question from the Internet:

“How can I live by my values, and what does living by your values mean?”

We don’t have our own values. We are social creatures, we are the product of the environment we live in.

Thus our values, goals, aspirations, what we consume, what and how we wear, how we speak or behave is all influenced by the environment whether we are aware of it or not. And this can unfold positively - we follow the main trends - or negatively - we go against them - but it doesn’t matter, we live by the standards the environment sets.

As a result our only freedom of choice in life, the only way we can control our values, goals, aspirations is by choosing and then actively, purposefully strengthening the environment that shapes, forms us.
