Our problem-solving ability and collective survival depends on INtegral Education
Question from the internet:
“What are the different social issues, needs, and demands that should be considered in the curriculum?”
The single most important “social” issue that needs to be on every curriculum is the topic of the globally integrated and totally interdependent world we live in.
While we have been talking about a “global village”, “one world” for decades, only now, when the pandemic showed us what true interdependence and mutual responsibility means did we start to feel and understand what a global, integral world actually means.
The problem is that seeing, understanding this is not enough. Even if intellectually we understand the need to build mutually responsible, mutually complementing connections, cooperation — above the inherent diversity, differences of opinions, instinctive distrust, animosity — we simply cannot actually do it.
Our inherent nature is 100% egocentric, individualistic, and subjective. We are driven by our instincts to excessively accumulate resources for ourselves, to succeed at the expense of others.
This is neither “sinful” nor “evil”, we are born like this, we simply do not know any other kind of existence. So in short, we are incompatible with the actual living conditions Nature’s evolution has placed us.
“Globalization” — living in a globally integrated and interdependent system — is not “man-made”. With our markets, businesses, financial system, entertainment industry spanning all across the globe we are simply reacting to the changing conditions as evolution is driving the whole Natural system — together with us — towards a most optimal, final integration.
As a result, we are using the inevitable global connections, integration in the opposite way we should, still trying to exploit everything fro personal, selfish profit, gaining all for ourselves at the expense of others and Nature.
This incompatibility between our Natural, evolutionary conditions and our inherent nature/program is causing all the worsening crisis situations, our inability to handle global issues, problems, and it helplessly drives us towards seemingly inevitable self-destruction.
This is why we urgently need a unique, purposeful, and practical educational method, that can teach us, moreover make us feel what it means to exist in a fully integrated and interdependent system. This education can help us understand, accept that it is in our best interest to start making calculations for the benefit of the collective above the instinctive calculations for selfish benefit.
After all, in this integral system, the prosperity, success, health, and survival of the individual are intricately and irrevocably connected to the prosperity, success, health, and survival of the whole collective.
This is how Nature’s laws of integration work, which laws now we have to learn, accept, and follow.
