Our future depends only on our unity!

An article in The Jerusalem Post:

My comment:

There is a lot of truth in the article.

Especially the part that notes that we have to learn to get along and do everything collectively together — above and despite our diversity and differences of opinions.

I also agree that this has to be built — more precisely rebuilt — from the ground up, as we can’t expect the presidential leaders — all fully invested in their own line of thought and political or ideological faction — to initiate and lead such renewed unity.

On the other hand, we do not need to invent anything.

Our whole identity, the original Judaism we are based on, the very life system that makes us Jewish, starts with unity and mutual guarantee.

Without pledging to be a Nation of “One man with One heart,” without committing ourselves to “love the fellow Jew as much as we love ourselves and become 100% responsible for the whole Nation,” we can’t even speak about “Jewishness” or being “Israeli.”

We have our whole history as proof of how our unity and disunity determined and shaped our greatest achievements and greatest disasters.

Moreover, as our sages wrote multiple times, our “right of existence on our Land” depends on showcasing this “supernatural” — above inherently selfish and egoistic human nature — unity and mutual guarantee to others so they can also learn, with our help how to survive above and against the cancer-like human ego.

All we need is the right education and the desire to return to our “truly Jewish” roots based on “brotherly love” above “unfounded hatred.”
