Our free choice: which master do we choose?
Question from the Internet:
“Are we free?”
Nobody is free. We are all totally controlled by “Nature”. What I mean by this is that by default, we are 100% blindly and instinctively driven by our inherently selfish, egoistic and exploitative nature we received from Nature’s evolution.
Millennia of human history is nothing else but how we loyally enacted what this inherent ego demanded from us. And as a result, today, we are approaching a very realistic possibility of total human self-destruction.
Why would Nature create a part in itself that inevitably self-destructs?
We do not need to finish what the ego started as we can switch to a different control. We have the conscious ability to recognize that as long as our inherent ego controls us, nothing good can come of us. We can also recognize that if we adapted ourselves to Nature’s harmonious, finely balanced and mutually integrated system — by building Nature-like interconnections and cooperation between us — we could safeguard our collective survival and prosper.
Moreover, by consciously and willingly shifting from the control of the selfish ego to aligning ourselves with the control of altruistic and integrated Nature, we would become Nature’s only fully conscious, integrated and, at the same time, independent observers and equal partners.
Thus in effect, our only choice is under what control we subjugate ourselves — our inherent ego or Nature’s general system — but by that seemingly minuscule we become the sole controllers of the whole of reality.
