Our free choice: choice of the environment

Question from the Internet:

“Do we all have choices?”

We have choice, but it is very different from what we usually think.

Most people honestly believe that they can freely choose what they want, what they do. But in truth everything from what they eat, consume, how we speak, dress, behave, what our values, goals, aspirations are, who we vote for, are determined by factors related to our genetic inheritance, and that in what environment we develop the qualities, attributes we are born with.

And since we can’t change our genetic “package”, the only free choice we have in life is where we “plant our seed”, into what environment we settle into and how we build, strengthen that environment with others who we find common goals, aspirations with.

From then on we will be formed, fine tuned by that environment like clay in the hands of a potter.
