An article in The Jerusalem Post:
For the country's good, we need to change our leadership - opinion
It is time to pass on the mantle of leadership to another for the good of our country.
We tend to forget that politicians and political parties grow out of society; they represent society.
It is the public that elects parties and politicians to power, at least as long as there is any shred of democracy remaining.
If we are not happy with the present political system or the leadership, it will not make any difference if we select different leaders or different parties, as long the society and the foundations and values of society remain the same. And it is true for Israel and any other country.
The problem with present human societies is that they are built by and for our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric, and exploitative human nature. Everything is about ruthless and exclusive competition and succeeding at the expense of others. Anyone who gets to power starts to control, manipulate, and exploit others without fail since this is how human nature works.
Only the Jewish people have a unique, tried, and tested method for building human interconnections and a Nation above and despite inherent human nature.
Only when we relearn and revive our method of “mutual guarantee” — above and against our instincts — will we succeed and also show a crucial positive example to others. Then, we will also develop new leaders who truly work only for others.
This is our actual purpose in the world as Jews, and this is also the key to our “right to exist” on our Land as the Nation of Israel.
