New, better politicians can only grow out of new, better Human societies!
Question from the Internet:
“Seeing how politicians have handled things recently, should there be an emphasis on altruism (real leadership) as opposed to apathy (uncaring)?”
Yes, politicians, leaders should become “public servants” in the true meaning of the expression, they should lead by positive example.
And since in a fully integrated and interdependent world positive example is building selfless, altruistic interconnections as without them we can’t solve problems and survive, they should be showing such qualities, actions.
The problem is that not only politicians but none of us possess such qualities. We are all born inherently self-serving, self-justifying, individualistic and we all thrive at succeeding at the expense of others — knowingly or unknowingly.
The pandemic showed not only the leaders selfish, incapable but showed very clearly how everybody else only thinks about their own health, survival, many times at the expense of others (storming supermarkets, not wearing masks, jumping vaccination queues, only thinking about returning to the previous, hedonistic, consumer lifestyle even if others are dying…)
Politicians, celebrities, billionaires simply are the most selfish, egotistic, thriving people in society who end up at the peak of the Human pyramid. And usually, those who preach acceptance, equality, altruism are even worse as they pretend to be not egotistic, loving, emphatic until things turn sour and they start restriction of free speech, start establishing dogmas, cancel culture.
We are all the same just express our selfish egos in different ways.
